3 centers of intelligence: Blind spot of transformation approach
Whenever leader start transformation journey, they will need to communicate and inspiring people to change. However, every one of us are receptive to different type of motivator. While someone might be more motivated when they see concrete examples, others also might hate concrete examples and view those as too rigid. (“This is not Agile. It’s about mindset.”). In this session, I will show how all of us have familiarity and blind spot when it comes to crafting and receiving transformation message. How that blind spot might be amplified wrongly in large organization? And how can we be more balanced. Based on 3 centers of intelligence theory (which derived from Enneagram).

Flow Mapping: Better Business Agility with Flight Levels
Organisations know that achieving better Business Agility is key for their long-term survival. However, most Agile Transformations fail to deliver their expected outcomes. Many lose momentum and are cancelled before they can be completed. So, why do we fail so often? Business Agility requires a fundamental change of perspective; moving from Resource thinking to Flow thinking. This change is hard and scary. So, instead, many companies focus on team-level agility and hope that is enough. Unfortunately, this rarely works. In this talk, Jose will explore how you can achieve better business agility by focusing on the Flow of work with Flight Levels.

Agile Preconditions - Reading Between Lines in Agile Manifesto
Just like growing plants, we need to create the right environment where the plants can grow. Agile implementation also requires the right preconditions to where it can show its value. A lot of time these preconditions are assumed because of our own cognition biases. When we realize the condition is not right, it is too late and Agile implementation ends up being not as successful.

In this session, we will read between lines in Agile Manifesto & principles to discover what those preconditions are. Then we can assess whether how we can build those preconditions, or the operating context might not be the best fit for Agility.

How McKinsey made me a better Agile Coach
Management consultancies like McKinsey, BCG, or EY tend to have a bad reputation in the Agile community. Most agile folks believe they don’t understand Agile well (or at all) and at best deliver “better waterfall”.
While there might be some truth to this belief, I can 100% say that working for McKinsey supercharged my Agile Coaching skills. This talk will be about what I learnt in my 7 years there.

Exploring 3 disorienting paradoxes for transformation leaders
Numerous resources like Accelerate and Good To Great offer leaders guidance for transforming their organizations toward agility. However, many transformations end up being inhuman, incoherent, or incomprehensible. It's not that the principles are flawed, but the paradoxes within Agility often disorient leaders, causing them to take mistaken directions.
Let's unravel a couple of these paradoxes and look at fundamental notions (mindsets) that can act as a North Star

A sense making framework for coaches and teams
Sense-making frameworks provide a roadmap for exploring the unknown. They are enablers of shared understanding, informed decision-making and purposeful action.

In this talk, I am going to describe a sense-making framework that can be used to explore team functioning. The framework is presented as a visual canvas which provides a focus for teams to explore different aspects of how they work together. It is a great tool for coaches but is also useful for teams to explore on their own.

After introducing the canvas and explaining each of its sections, I will use the canvas to show how I make sense of some of the teams I have had the pleasure (or misfortune) to be part of.

This workshop lets participants experience emergent behaviour and adaptiveness by playing improvisation games. Improvisation is a form of unscripted theater and a gateway to agile thinking and action. It creates a safe and fun space to embrace experimentation and failure. With these games, you will open the hearts and minds of teams and stakeholders.

How to live with project mindset : Increasing Agility of Project Portfolio in actions
Since time immemorial, the project mindset has always been a common annoyance in the agile community, and we cannot deny that project-based work has become popular and standardized. Particularly large companies often have a strong project management process and project portfolio, which helps investors and stakeholders have a clear picture of profits and costs and the problems that occur in a complete manner. So what exactly is the real problem? And how can we use an agile mindset to work together? Is there a way for the project mindset to continue, or should it really die out?

Polarity Management: Not everything is a problem to solve
Some problems in organisations arise as a consequence of the system they are in. Therefore, solving the problem is like solving the symptom, but that doesn't address the reason why the problem happened in the first place. These problems are not meant to be solved with a one-sided solution but rather managed by balancing two or more competing polarities. Each polarity has its own set of positive strengths, but focusing too much on one can lead to a scarcity on the other side with negative consequences. Instead, the goal is to find a way to leverage the strengths of both sides while minimising the drawbacks. In this talk, we'll work on how to identify polarities and how to manage them.
